My actual secret: I use AI to help it help me help you

methodagentsmeta

If I had to compress my method into one sentence, it is this: I use AI to help it help me help you. It sounds like a joke until you watch it work. The single biggest gap between people who get magic out of AI and people who get mush is not the model or the prompt of the day. It is whether you use AI to improve how you use AI.

What this looks like in practice

AI writes its own briefing. Before an agent builds anything for a client, I have a model interview me about the business, then write the specification document that a second model will execute. The spec is better than what either of us would write alone, and the executing agent misunderstands far less.

AI builds its own tests. When an agent writes an automation, another pass writes the checks that prove it works: run the flow, read the error, fix, repeat. An agent that can verify its own work stops accumulating confident mistakes. This is how a full booking system got built overnight while I slept.

AI maintains its own memory. Every project keeps files the AI itself updates: what was decided, what failed, which trap to avoid next time. The next session starts smarter than the last one ended. Most people restart from zero every conversation and wonder why the results plateau.

AI critiques AI. Before anything reaches a client, a separate model with fresh eyes attacks it: what is wrong, what is missing, what would embarrass us. It catches what the author model cannot see, for the same reason human writers need editors.

Why this compounds

Each layer multiplies the next. Better specs produce better builds; better tests catch worse bugs; better memory removes repeated mistakes; better critique raises the floor. None of these steps is impressive alone. Together they are the difference between "we tried AI and it was meh" and systems that run businesses.

Questions I get about this

Is this not slower? The first day, slightly. By the first week it is dramatically faster, because you stop paying the misunderstanding tax on every task.

Which tools do I need? Any serious model works. The method is the asset, not the tool. I run most of it with Claude, but the recursion works anywhere.

Where do I start? Next time you ask AI for something important, first ask it: "Interview me, then write the brief you wish you had for this task." That one habit is half the method.
